Jabal Sayid is located 350 kilometres north east of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Byrnecut Offshore was awarded the development and production contract for Jabal Sayid in September 2010.

Byrnecut Offshore was initially involved in the dewatering and rehabilitation of old abandoned workings prior to the commencement of mining operations.

Byrnecut Offshore’s scope of works include decline, vertical and lateral development, rehabilitation, production drilling, blasting and haulage. Byrnecut also manages all fleet maintenance.

Using large scale long hole open stoping methods with cemented rock fill, the project aims to extract 1.5 million tonnes of ore per year.

Mining activities are undertaken by a multi-national workforce employing Saudi, Australian and Indonesian labour, in which Byrnecut Offshore’s safety and training systems are tailored to meet the varying cultural and employment requirements of this project.
