Jabal Sayid is located 350 kilometres North East of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Byrnecut Offshore Saudi Arabia was awarded the complete underground scope of works including development and production for Jabal Sayid in March 2015.

Byrnecut was initially involved in the dewatering, rehabilitation of old abandoned workings and mining operations from 2010 – 2014, prior to the recommencement of the current mining operations.

Byrnecut’s scope of works include decline, vertical and lateral development, pastefill, production drilling, blasting and haulage. Byrnecut also manages all fleet maintenance.

Using large scale long hole open stoping methods with a combination of cemented rock fill and pastefill, the project aims to extract approximately 1.5mt of ore per year.

Mining activities are undertaken by a multi-national workforce employing Saudi, West African, Australian and Indonesian labour. Byrnecut’s safety and training systems are tailored to meet the varying cultural and employment requirements of this project.
